The present health and medical care institutions in the city of Samarra no longer meet the urgent needs of the inhabitants of the city and the entire district. This is due to the limited capacities of these institutions, both in terms of staff, or in terms of disciplines, as well as the inappropriate degree of .
- With regard to Samarra Public Hospital, it is located on an area of (17590) m², and has one major building on an area (11000) m². Field surveys have revealed that the conditions of this large and the only hospital in Samarra are not good in terms of construction, but only acceptable, as well as the status of the finishing. The field surveys showed unequivocally that the capacity of the Samarra
Public Hospital is insufficient to meet the needs of the people, and that the hospital desperately needs to expand the areas dedicated for services of health and medical care. The total area allocated for parking at the hospital is (300) m², which means parking for 10 vehicles only which is insufficient for the ambulances and cars of patients and employees.
The area of al-Qattool center for health care is (4032) m², and the size of its building is (2300) m². The Center is comprised of two buildings. Field surveys have confirmed that the condition of buildings and land is good, and the capacity of the center is sufficient to meet the needs envisaged. As the area for parking is (700) m², it is sufficient for parking (25) vehicles which is acceptable number.
Finally, the first aid center in al-Mualemin quarter is located on a piece of land its area is (7350) m²,and consists of total area of buildings of (3000) m². The condition of the buildings and finishing is good, as well as the land, but the field survey also emphasized the need of the center to expand its capacity
