The city of Samara lack in general recreational and sports services. It is necessary to care about this aspect. In the center of the city there is a need for sports facilities for young people, and for the provision of certain recreational services, like gardens, open spaces and playgrounds for children, and whatever contributes to the creation of viable social environment in their best forms of social interdependence among the residents, and provide them with adequate rest and spending leisure time. And the need is greater for more recreational services if we know that the traditional fabric of the old
town, does not contain gardens and green spaces, although the proportion of green areas in urban space is less than the national rates recognized, and therefore it requires a number of programs to redress this situation. All services available in this very vital area, is one public library located at a close distance of to the old town, one public youth center, one sports stadium, and about (30) cafes and casinos that most of them lack the appropriate conditions for the comfort-goers. As a result of the special security situation
the city went through most of these places are closed.

Samara Sports Club

The club was founded in 1973, a social, cultural,and sports club. The constituent body consisted of the following:
1. Salih Mahdi Aldaia    (Chairman)
2.Riad Al-kledar
3. Hashim Saleh Darraji
4. Hamid Saleh Jehjah
5. Ibrahim Khalil Ibrahim

The most important games that existed at the time of incorporation is the (football, basketball, volleyball , tennis, and table tennis)
- the  first football team joined the Premier League in 1989  up to now
- Basketball team joined  the Premier League in 1999
-  the  youth football team acquired the  second place in Iraqi  soccer tournament in 1996
- the junior football   team won the  first place in 1998 in  Iraq
Club is a popular  and relies on self-financing to cover the various activities.
